Build, edit and publish your portfolio

Start from a template or import your site, edit it in place or by chat, then publish and share it.

Written by Abdullah Atif

Your portfolio lives in Yara chat. You can start from a template, import a site you already have, edit it by hand or by asking Yara, and publish it to your own address. This guide walks through each step.

1. Start a portfolio

Open a new chat and click Build portfolio. You get two ways to start:

  • Template: pick a design and Yara fills it with your name, experience and projects. Click Show all to see every template, open one to preview it, then click Use the template and send the message. Your preview is ready in seconds.

  • Import: bring in a site you already have. Choose Link (Framer, Webflow, Lovable or any site, up to 5 pages), GitHub (a repo), ZIP file (Claude Design or any site export) or Figma (exported frames), then click Import. Yara copies your pages, images and fonts and rebuilds the site. A large, animation-heavy site can take several minutes.

2. Look around the preview

The preview opens on the right. Along the top you can:

  • Use the page menu (it shows / for the home page) to jump between the pages of your site.

  • Click Reload preview to refresh it, and the device button to switch between desktop, tablet and mobile sizes.

  • Switch between Preview, Code, Analytics and Settings.

The toolbar at the bottom has Navigate, Edit text, Ask Yara, Undo, Redo and Hide. Hide gives you a clean view; click Show tools to bring the toolbar back.

3. Make quick edits

  1. Click Edit text (T) in the bottom toolbar.

  2. Hover the page: anything you can change gets an outline. Click a line of text, type your change and press Enter. Press Escape to cancel.

  3. Click an image to replace it: drop a new image or click to choose one, then pick how it sits (Fill, Fit or Full).

  4. If something is not editable in place, use Ask Yara (A) to leave a note on it and click Apply.

4. Edit by chatting with Yara

Type what you want in the chat. For example:

  • "Add a Writing section with my post at https://yourblog.com/post." Yara reads the page and adds its real title and a short summary.

  • Attach an image with the + button and ask Yara to use it as a project thumbnail or add it to a section.

  • "Move my strongest project to the top" or "Make my name larger."

Each edit saves a new version you can go back to.

5. Edit the code (optional)

Open the Code tab to browse your site's files. Edit a file and click Save to rebuild the page. Select some lines and click Add to chat to ask Yara about them, use Reference file in chat to point Yara at a whole file, or Copy current file to copy it.

6. Publish

  1. Click Publish at the top right (or open Settings > General).

  2. Your portfolio goes live at your Yara address, for example yourname.yara.so/your-portfolio. Use Copy to grab the link.

  3. After more edits, click Publish update to put the newest version live. Unpublish takes it down.

7. Share with tracked links

Once your portfolio is live, click Share. On People, type who it is for (for example "Stripe recruiter") and click Create link. On Applications, pick or type a company or role. Every link is unique, so you can see who opened it. Use the copy button next to a link to send it.

8. Settings: SEO, address and custom domain

  • SEO: set the title, description, favicon and share image for each page. The same details are also editable from the page menu in the preview.

  • Domains: click Edit URL to choose your Yara address (your old address keeps working and redirects). To use your own domain, type it under Custom domain, click Connect and add the CNAME record Yara shows you where your DNS is managed. It goes live a few minutes after the record resolves.

  • General: rename your site, upload a site icon and turn the Made with Yara badge on or off.

9. Versions, undo and redo

Use Undo and Redo in the bottom toolbar to step back through recent quick edits. For anything older, open Settings > Versions, hover a version and click Revert. Reverting adds a new version, so nothing is lost. Publish again to put the reverted version live.

10. Manage portfolios in your Library

Open Library in the sidebar to see all your portfolios. Click one to open it in chat, which is also how you switch between portfolios. The ... menu on a card lets you Rename, Duplicate, Set as default, Open public page or Delete a portfolio. Deleting cannot be undone and stops its share links from working.

What is included in each plan

  • Free: 1 portfolio, starter templates, and the Made with Yara badge stays on.

  • Pro and Max: the full template library and unlimited portfolios, importing an existing portfolio, removing the badge, your own subdomain and custom domains, tracked links and analytics, and syncing your portfolio to a GitHub repo from Settings > Git.
