This guide covers three everyday things in Yara: getting help from our team, switching between light and dark mode, and using Yara on your phone. It also explains what you see when a link no longer works.
Get help from the Yara team
Open Yara and look at the bottom of the left sidebar, just above your name.
Click Support.
The Yara messenger opens in the bottom right corner. Pick a recent conversation or click Send us a message.
Type your question and send it. You can close the messenger with the X and reopen it from Support at any time; your conversation is saved under Messages.
Collapsed sidebar? If you collapsed the sidebar to icons, Support is the question mark icon just above your avatar. Clicking it opens the same messenger.
Switch between light and dark mode
Click your name in the bottom left corner and open Settings.
Choose Personalization.
Under Appearance, pick Light, Dark, or Auto. Auto follows your device setting, so Yara turns dark when your computer or phone does.
Your choice applies to chat, Applications, Library, Settings and the public Yara pages on that device.
Use Yara on your phone
Yara works in your phone browser (Safari or Chrome). Everything you do on a computer, from finding roles to applying, is available on a phone. Here is how each part works on a small screen.
Get around
Open yara.so in your phone browser and sign in.
You land in chat. Type what you need in the message box, or tap Find Jobs, Create resume or More to start.
Tap the menu button in the top left to open navigation: New, Applications, Library and Chats. Your recent chats are listed below.
Tap Support at the bottom of the menu to message us.
Track applications
Open the menu and tap Applications.
Swipe left and right to move between columns: Liked, In Progress, Applied, Interviewing, Offer, Rejected and Withdrawn.
Tap a card to open the application. Tap the status button under the role title (for example In Progress) and pick a new status. The card moves to that column on the board.
Use the search box at the top to find an application by role or company.
Tip: the board view is the easiest way to scan applications on a phone. The list view has many columns and works best on a larger screen.
Find roles and apply
In chat, ask for roles, for example Find me senior product designer roles in San Francisco.
Yara searches and opens the matching roles. Tap a role to see its details: whether it is a real, live role, how well it matches you, and what to do next. These checks can take a few seconds to fill in.
Tap ... on a role to open the original job post, flag the role, or copy its details.
Tap Apply with Yara. Yara reads the application form, tailors your resume to the role and builds your application kit.
In the kit, each answer has a pencil to edit it and a copy button so you can paste it into the employer's form.
Next to the resume, tap the swap button to switch between the resume tailored for this role and your default resume.
Tap Open application to go to the employer's form. When you have submitted it, tap I've applied and the role moves to Applied on your board.
Edit your resume and portfolio
Open the menu and tap Library. Use the tabs to show Portfolios, Resumes or Drafts.
Tap a resume to open it. The page is scaled to fit your screen; use + and - to zoom.
Make sure Edit is selected, then tap any text on the resume and type. Changes save automatically and a new version number appears at the top.
Tap Preview to see the clean page, or the download button to get a PDF.
To add a portfolio, tap Import (Link, GitHub, ZIP file or Figma) or New > New portfolio.
Settings on your phone
Open the menu, tap your name, then Settings. Settings opens as a full screen panel. Tap a section such as Profile, Personalization or Billing, use the back arrow to return to the list, and tap X to close.
When a page or link is not found
If a link was removed, for example a shared chat that its owner stopped sharing, Yara shows a 404 page. Click Go home to go to the Yara homepage, or Go to Yara to open chat. If you think the link should work, ask the person who sent it to share it again.
